You and Me by the Sea...

Hello again everyone. I hope all is well with you and you are getting to do things you love to do! I would love to hear what you're up to.
I am still feeling under the weather so my creating has been Slow.Slow.Slow. I've had an old (small) clipboard stashed away for quite awhile. I painted it with white gesso and once that dried, then I glued down pieces of scrap paper with matte medium. After the matte medium dried, I used acrylic paint here and there and let that dry. I then took bubble wrap and brushed paint over it and then stamped the clipboard. I stamped the clipboard with other stamps that I had on hand. I used brown and black StazOn ink.

I found this fish pin at a garage sale and the gold was a little too bright for me so I stained it here and there with alcohol ink. As you can see I didn't cover it completely.

I typed out the words: The only place I'd rather be is by the shore, you next to me.

The starfish in the corner is a metal button that I cut the back off so I could glue it down flat. I used E-6000 glue for that.

Another button and I glued flat-backed white bubble beads above him. :)

I put some old pearls into a little bottle and tied a string around the lid and attached this little metal clam that I found in my goodie stash.

The netting in the background is a piece of an old onion sack that I saved. It was a really pretty purple and I painted it brown and buff white.

I love this old print (on fabric).
And here is a view of the whole clipboard.  What do you think? I imagined this devoted dog (thinking in his mind, of course), saying these words to his owner. Do you have a dog devoted to you? Boy, I do! She doesn't want me out of her sight!
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you are enjoying the start of the month of June! Wow, did it get here fast!! And we are having gorgeous weather! I'm pretty happy about that!

Happy creating all!
Sonya

Hi Sonya,

It's good to "see" you again. I used to have a dog, but sadly, she died at age 15.

I like this blue clipboard. Thanks for sharing your blue today.

Happy Blue Monday!

What a creative idea, The Starfish is adorable, and I like the button fish and starfish as well, adding the pearls for bubbles is a cute idea, All the blues look nice with the shells and seashore scene.

What a lovely blog you have...I just linked to follow you thru Google Friend Connect. :)
Thanks for coming by and leaving your story of your mom and her fight with colon cancer. And, if you will, be sure to check with your doctor on the 10 year followup...my doctor thinks we should have the test every 5 years now.
Oh...and to be truthful...
I. WANT. THAT. CLIPBOARD. !!! :)
Kidding aside, it is gorgeous.

So much work you've done to create this masterpiece - and I bet you had a lot of fun doing it, too! Great job!

What a fabulous creation and great use of a clipboard. Loved the paint techniques and all the repurposed pieces...especially the buttons and fabric print. Gives me ideas, as I have lots of 'stuff'...very inspirational. Thanks for stopping by my Blue Monday post.
