A Trip to Treasures From the Heart

Hello my dears! How was your weekend? I thought I would share my goodies that I brought home with me Friday. First, my daughter and I went to Barb's shoppe, Treasures From the Heart  .  I wanted these black boots. Aren't they the cutest?
I thought this mailbox door would be cute for a collage piece, what do you think?
And Barb made these darling little purses...it is so much cuter in real life. She has more too, if you're interested.
 Great for a collage...
These earrings are sooo pretty to me. They just sparkle.
Zinc lids. I'm trying to stalk up for a craft I will be teaching in November at our church. I only need about 30 more! LOL.
Cute little tart tins. See previous post for an idea of what I used one for. :)
A compass I will use for an art piece that I have in my head that's dying to get out!
These coin purses are really little. I can't pass one up (or two). I think maybe one egg will fit in them.
I've been wanting this high chair too. Why? Because...
Little Imani needed it! She fit perfectly in it.  No, I don't have a granddaughter. I need one, don't I?
I always have a great time at Barb's store. If you live in Oregon around the Eugene area...you need to go there! Tell her I sent you. Her address in on her blog.  Thanks for the goodies, Barb!
I bought this little one the other day at an antique store. She will be perfect for another collage I want to make. She has an ouchie on her foot but I can make little shoes for her and you won't see it.

After we left Barb's shoppe we went to the Country Girls Flea Market. They had lots of great things. But guess what? I didn't buy anything! Remember I'm selling my house and will have to move whatever I buy. I'm not buying any furniture or things like that until I know what I need. I don't want to end up having to get rid of it in a garage sale. Which I'm famous for.  My daughter bought some cool stuff though. I want to take pics of it. She bought two awesome slipcovered chairs and a big huge set of school lockers. She got really good deals too!

Just wanted to let you know too, that I've opened up my online Counting My Blessings Boutique. There's a button on the right hand side if you want to go see. I've only got one thing posted so far. But I will be posting more soon.

Thanks for stopping by my friends. Have you found any great finds lately? I'd love to hear about them! Enjoy the rest of your summer-it's going by so quickly!

Blessings,
Sonya

~And Under His Wings~

God is our shelter, a refuge when we are afraid. We need to trade all our fears for faith in Him, no matter how BIG our fears are. To do this we need to "dwell" and "rest" with Him. That is easier said than done, sometimes, isn't it? By entrusting ourselves to His protection and pledging our daily devotion to Him, we WILL be kept safe.
I had these rusted pieces for awhile now. As I looked at them I could see the key looked kind of like a bird head and the drawer pull (thingy) looked like wings. Well, they do to me. :) Next thing you know, I'm thinking about the verse in Psalms 91:4.
I put a crown on Him because the Lord wears the biggest one there is! For the background of this piece I mod podged old hymnals and let the title of one of them show through, "Abide With Me".
This represents us, enclosed in the safety of His arms.I put some clothes on her.
"He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart."  ~Psalms 91:4~
My husband was scratching his head with this one. :) I hope some of you "get it". Most of all I'm praying that you are dwelling and resting in the Lord.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you are all enjoying your summer. Please feel free to leave a comment, they are always welcome, my friends. If you are too shy, I have an email button that you can click on and it will go right to my email.

Blessings and love,

Sonya

~Artful Gathering Class~

Well, here it is friends...my creation from the Artful Gathering Class I took. I really wanted to learn how to do the weave on the bottom. I need to keep working at it. Some of the students in this class have created some awesome pieces!
The outline of the image is from a cover of an old book.
I love this picture. Double click and you can see up close. Up on the left hand corner I put the word "dramatic" cut off the book itself. I thought the girl looked rather dramatic. And then below that...
I put the words, "How can I wait so long".
I had a lot of fun taking this class. There were many others offered but the class is only opened for a  limited time, so I only signed up for one. It ends the 27th so it's probably a good thing I only signed up for one. So many wonderful artists teaching!  Nancy Maxwell James had one too. I wanted to take her class too but maybe she will offer it again! :)

If you've thought of taking an online class...do it! It's so much fun learning new techniques and expanding your creating field.

Thanks again for stopping by dear ones. I hope your week is fabulously creative!

Love,
Sonya

Happy Birthday Deacon!

Hello again my bloggy friends! Today is Deacon's 4th birthday! So I thought I would share his birthday party with you! He wanted a Spider Man cake. I've never seen one quite like this before. But Deacon was very happy with it.:)
Yes, we did have some healthy snacks too.

He had a hard time blowing the last one out.
He was even thrilled about the Transformer card that Grandma and Papa got him.

Yes!! A Transformer! Just what he wanted!
I know he will probably sleep in this tonight.
Deacon couldn't believe there was candy in this pinata and he was suppose to hit it with a bat!
Everyone of the kids took turns hitting it. Yes, it took ALL of them hitting it before it broke.
Some of them had to peek!
Oh yes, candy!! Notice how full their bags are already?
Another game they played. We tied balloons to one of their ankles then they had to try to pop the other kid's balloons. Whoever ended up with the last balloon on their ankle won!
Then they played good old musical chairs! I love this game!
They got to get wet in this game. Nikki threw a handful of dimes with one nickel into the pool. The one to find the nickel won! They played this 3 times! :)
The kids had such a great time. It was so fun to watch. I took over 100 pics but I didn't think you would want to see them all. Great memories.

Thank you for visiting Deacon's birthday. I hope your weekend was relaxing and fun too.  Come back soon I will be posting my Artful Gathering class creation.

Have a wonderful week!

Sonya

~Best Friends~

Hello again, my friends.  I made this 5.5 x 9 inch collage out of a book cover. I glued (with matte medium) french scripted tissue over the book cover, both sides. Then I painted with acrylic yellow ochre over the whole thing. I love the image of these two ladies. They look like they are having such a good time. They seemed to be wearing feathers in their hats so I had to apply the real thing!

Best friends...I'm sure they are. Do you have a best friend?
I thought this brooch was unusual looking but pretty. Of course, more feathers!
Well, here it is! I  hope you like it. Double click and you can see it better.

What are you doing today? Any creating? I would love to hear from you.
Thank you for stopping by and for your comments too.

Love~

A Day at the Beach and a Tag

Hello dear friends! As some of you might remember we went to the beach last Saturday for my niece's wedding. Well, the wedding happened but we were 2 hours late because we couldn't find it! We forgot the GPS at home and I got the directions off of the computer. By the time we found it, the wedding party and the bride and groom were eating!! I was trying to take some pics of my grandson and this little girl kept insisting that she wanted to be in the photos too! :) I don't know her name or who she is but she is a cutie. I wish Deacon held still for photos like she did!
Trying to get him to look up long enough to take his pic was out of the question.
My daughter squinting at the brightness of the day.

People out riding their horses. Looks like so much fun!
Now maybe he will hold still long enough! :)
                                             He thought this was great.
Can you tell he's trying to see his reflection in my camera lens?
I'm too chicken to try this.
I will appreciate the waves standing on the beach, thank you.

My beach-themed inspired tag I made this morning. The shells are from Ashlee's wedding. The background is a piece of blue tissue paper mod podged on the front and back. The image of the little girl is from Paper Whimsy.

What are your plans for this weekend? Anything fun? I made another collage using a book cover for the background. Will post about that next.

Have a fabulous weekend and thank you for stopping by and especially for your comments. I always look forward to hearing from you. And new followers are always welcome too.

Blessings,

Sonya
